The Pot Still Irish Whiskeys of Midleton tasting event

Join us for a premium whiskey tasting at the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ 8th Annual Celtic Street Faire on September 14, where we’ll discuss and sample some outstanding examples of Midleton’s single pot still brands. We’ll still be holding our public tasting event at Felix Street Square featuring some great whiskeys, wines, and beers, but these special whiskeys will only be available at our premium event.

What is single pot still whiskey? How did it come about? What makes it different from other styles of whiskey? We’ll answer these and other questions you may have, and talk about how Midleton and its owner preserved the style, and to a large extent, Irish whiskey itself.

Here are the whiskeys we’ll be presenting:

Jameson Single Pot Still (not the Jameson you’ll find on the grocery store shelf-this one’s not sold in the US!)

Method & Madness single pot still French Chestnut finish

Powers John’s Lane cask strength (also only available outside the US)

Gold Spot 13 year old Generations Edition

Redbreast Missouri Oak edition (this recently released version of one of the most famous single pot still brands is finished in virgin oak casks from the Ozark mountains)

Check out the Celtic Street Faire page for more information.

36th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Postponed due to Weather

Due to concerns regarding the forecasted weather this week and the frigid temperatures predicted on parade day, the Ancient Order of Hibernians has decided to postpone the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade from March 12 to March 19. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is a proud family tradition that should be shared by all. After a review of the weather forecast, we felt that in the best interest of public safety, and rather than risk of putting young children in harm’s way, postponing the parade one week is our most prudent option.

The re-scheduled parade will still be held at noon on March 19th and the Ancient Order of Hibernians are confident that the people of Saint Joseph will continue their outstanding support of the parade and turn out in strong numbers.

Additionally, the Hibernians would like to remind everyone of the ongoing food drive in coordination with the Second Harvest Food Bank. We encourage those willing to help to visit the parade page for a list of drop off locations or information on cash donations.

Finally, there are plenty of Irish events still scheduled for Saturday March 12 and would urge those who are able and willing to show their support for local businesses and attend.
