About The Event

Join us for a very special whiskey tasting at the Celtic Street Faire on September 16th.  We’ll be offering five unique whiskeys showcasing the various styles in which Irish whiskey is distilled, and will include some rare releases and releases that are only available for purchase in Ireland.  Some of these will likely be making a one-and-done appearance in St. Joseph.

The tasting will be preceded by a brief history of Irish whiskey and a discussion of what makes Irish whiskey - Irish whiskey! Our presentation and tasting of five ½ ounce pours will be led by Hibernian Whiskey Ambassador Shane McDonald and is expected to take approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

Whiskeys being showcased include a 13-year-old single grain whiskey from Clonakilty Distillery finished in a Madeira wine cask.  Our Dingle Single Malt Lunasa should appeal to bourbon lovers.  This limited edition, available only in Ireland, celebrates the Irish harvest season and is finished in Widow Jane bourbon barrels.  From Method and Madness, a micro-distillery part of the Midleton distilling complex (home of Jameson, Redbreast, and Powers), we’ll have a single pot still whiskey finished in American Garryana oak.

We’re awaiting the arrival from Ireland of a single malt distilled in the Pearse Lyons distillery in Dublin called Genesis. It’s one of only 888 bottles of the first single malt from this distillery, and it’s finished in Town Branch bourbon barrels from the American distillery also owned by Pearse Lyons.  Finally, we have a distillery exclusive from Teeling finished in a red wine chestnut cask on the way.  Teeling changes their distillery exclusives every six months, so this will be an experience not many will have the opportunity to enjoy.

Should unforeseen circumstances prevent the arrival of the Pearse Lyons and Teeling selections, whiskeys of equal value and interest will be substituted.  There are some beauties waiting as understudies to the incredible selections we’re offering.

This ticketed event will take place at 4:00 p.m., and is limited to the first 40 people (21 and over) to sign up.  The cost for this first-of-a-kind experience for St. Joseph will be $50 until the day of the event, with signups at the time of the event (if any are available), at $60.
