About The Event
Single pot still whiskey is a uniquely Irish spirit, and it’s best exemplified by the liquids produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork. While Midleton is home to Jameson, the largest-selling Irish whiskey brand in the world, there is much more to be explored in the other products produced there.
Join us for a premium whiskey tasting at the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ 8thAnnual Celtic Street Faire on September 14, where we’ll discuss and sample some outstanding examples of Midleton’s single pot still brands. We’ll still be holding our public tasting event at Felix Street Square featuring some great whiskeys, wines, and beers, but these special whiskeys will only be available at our premium event.
What is single pot still whiskey? How did it come about? What makes it different from other styles of whiskey? We’ll answer these and other questions you may have, and talk about how Midleton and its owner preserved the style, and to a large extent, Irish whiskey itself.
Here are the whiskeys we’ll be presenting:
Jameson Single Pot Still (not the Jameson you’ll find on the grocery store shelf-this one’s not sold in the US!)
Method & Madness single pot still French Chestnut finish
Powers John’s Lane cask strength (also only available outside the US)
Gold Spot 13 year old Generations Edition
Redbreast Missouri Oak edition (this recently released version of one of the most famous single pot still brands is finished in virgin oak casks from the Ozark mountains)
The premium tasting event this year will feature two seatings, limited to 20 participants in each, in the vault of the German American building across the street from the main Faire on Felix Street Square. This is a ticketed event separate from and in addition to our public tasting event held at Felix Street Square.
Admission to our premium tasting is $50 if your seat is purchased ahead of time, or $60 on the day of the event.
We expect to fill seats quickly, secure your spot for the 3:30 or 5pm seating now.
