Ancient Order of Hibernians

St. Joseph, MO

Presents our Annual Hedgerow Mass

After occupation by England and the institution of The Penal Laws in the 1600's, the practice of Catholicism and the Catholic way of life in Ireland was harshly suppressed. Catholics were forced to educate their children and celebrate Mass "behind the hedgerow", away from the eyes of the British and their Loyalists supporters.

We celebrate the Hedgerow Mass on one Sunday in September on the south lawn of the K of C Hall. Fr. Jack Fitzpatrick has been the celebrant in past years. Mass is celebrated with the intention of the souls of the deceased brothers of our AOH division. In any case of inclement weather, Mass is held in the Hall.

Immediately after Mass, we serve a fundraising brunch consisting of your choice of a Reuben sandwich or corned beef and cabbage. Cost of the brunch is $7, with a child's plate available for $5.

Please tell your friends and neighbors and bring them along!
